As a key member of the RPM team, the Pool Monitor plays an important role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at the pool facility. This position is responsible for providing general supervision of the pool area, ensuring that all guests follow established rules and guidelines, and supporting a positive and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors alike.
The Pool Monitor actively observes pool activities, enforces facility policies in a courteous and consistent manner, and assists guests as needed to maintain an orderly and respectful atmosphere. While this role does not serve as a lifeguard position, the Pool Monitor is expected to remain attentive, proactive, and responsive to potential safety concerns, escalating issues to appropriate personnel when necessary.
In addition, the Pool Monitor represents RPM in a professional and friendly manner, helping to uphold community standards and support recreational programming. All duties are performed in alignment with RPM’s goals and values, with a strong commitment to community, safety, integrity, teamwork, excellence, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities Safety and Rule Enforcement- Ensure all patrons adhere to pool safety rules and facility policies.
- Monitor the pool area for safety hazards, rule violations, or inappropriate behavior.
- Report safety concerns, incidents, or policy violations to management in a timely manner.
- Greet and assist guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Answer questions regarding pool policies, schedules, and amenities.
- Address minor conflicts calmly and respectfully, escalating issues to supervisors when necessary.
- Regularly inspect the pool area, restrooms, and surrounding spaces for cleanliness and order.
- Ensure chairs, tables, and pool equipment are properly arranged and maintained.
- Report maintenance, sanitation, or equipment issues to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain awareness of emergency procedures and assist staff and patrons in the event of an emergency.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and hear clearly. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to wet and humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and potentially hazardous materials. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate.
