Wild Mountain Seeds is a vegetable seed and market produce farm located in Carbondale, CO. We are focused on research and seed breeding, producing high-quality produce and seed using minimal tillage and permaculture techniques, with a hard working, supportive and FUN work culture on the farm.
Job descriptionWild Mountain Seeds is hiring 3 part time crew members for the 2026 growing season (May 1 – Oct 31). The farm crew will participate in most aspects of farming and seed production. Prior farm experience is not required; the ability and willingness to labor outside in all weather conditions is a must. Successful crew members learn by working, try new things, ask questions, and take initiative to maximize their experience.
Responsibilities- Bed preparation, direct seeding and transplanting
- Maintain planted beds: irrigation, weeding, trellising, thinning, pruning
- Help track field observations: plant growth, pests and disease, moisture and other crop needs
- Harvest, wash and pack produce
- Follow quality, food safety and freshness standards
- Participate in cooking crew lunch
- Participate in planning and execution of farm community activities
- Contribute to a collaborative, hardworking farm culture
- Communicate respectfully to all coworkers
- Potential to participate in the farmers market staffing rotation
- Potential to participate in CSA staffing rotation
- Assist with seed harvest, seed cleaning and packing
- Returning or experienced crew members will have the opportunity to take more leadership over specific production tasks
- Enthusiasm for hands-on learning
- Enjoy cooking and sharing meals
- Respectful of other cultures, perspectives, land and life
- Ability to quickly pick up new concepts and techniques
- Dependable and punctual
- Able to work independently and with teams
- Valid Driver’s License (will drive/operate farm vehicles/equipment)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in all weather conditions, and perform physical work for 40-50 hours a week in the high season
- Non-tobacco user (we breed tomatoes)
- Experience on a production vegetable, flower or seed farm is a plus
- Desire to continue a career in agriculture
Seasonal position, 6 months, April 1 – October 31. Standard work week: 3 days a week (Monday–Wednesday or Monday, Tuesday, Thursday), 8 hours a day.
CompensationSalary range: $18-$23/hour dependent on experience
Crew lunch during work days.
Staff access to farm vegetables.
