Calf Caretaker

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Calf Caretaker to join our agricultural team. This role involves caring for young calves to ensure their healthy growth and development within a farm setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal husbandry, farm machinery, and equipment maintenance, with the ability to handle various tasks related to animal care and farm operations.

Prior supervisory experience is a plus, along with mechanical knowledge and familiarity with farming practices.

• Provide daily care for calves, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health status
• Assist with calf housing management, ensuring cleanliness and proper ventilation
• Operate farm machinery such as tractors, irrigation systems, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment using hand tools, power tools, welding, or equipment repair skills
• Supervise farm staff or interns as needed, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and safely
• Assist with general farm chores including heavy lifting, equipment operation, and handling livestock
• Maintain detailed records of calf health, feeding schedules, and growth progress
• Support other farm activities such as planting, irrigation management, greenhouse work, or horticulture tasks as required

• Animal husbandry and animal handling techniques
• Supervising experience in a farm or agricultural environment preferred
• Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, equipment repair, welding, and power tools operation
• Familiarity with farming practices including irrigation systems, greenhouse management, horticulture, and heavy equipment operation
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a farm setting
• Basic math skills for measurements and record keeping
• Strong understanding of animal care standards and health monitoring procedures
• Experience with equine or other livestock handling is advantageous
• Knowledge of maintenance procedures for farm machinery and equipment used in agriculture operations
