Basalt Mountain Gardens is a small, regenerative, biodiverse homestead focused on regenerative growing, herbalism, and community food culture. We cultivate vegetables, culinary and healing herbs, fruit and flowers using organic, homeodynamic and biodiversity‑minded practices, honoring soil, water, and plant health.

Each summer we host a handful of small tours, workshops, and garden gatherings that blend education, hospitality, and connection to the land. These events introduce guests to regenerative agriculture, herbal craft, and seasonal eating in an intimate, welcoming setting.

Basalt Mountain Gardens is rooted in family, stewardship, and local relationships and reflects a belief that good food, thriving soil, and community wellbeing are deeply interconnected.

Farm & Greenhouse Assistant (Seasonal)

The Farm & Greenhouse Assistant will work closely with the farm leadership and be involved in most aspects of daily farm and homestead operations. This position offers on‑job training in regenerative farming practices, protected‑culture growing, season extension, and medicinal herb production, while supporting a diverse and evolving farm ecosystem.

Hours:

approximately 20 hours per week (seasonal flexibility required)

• Crop planning support and seasonal task coordination
• Seeding, transplanting, bed preparation, and cultivation
• Greenhouse and hoop house management
• Irrigation setup, monitoring, and maintenance
• Weeding, watering, and general crop care
• Pest and disease monitoring using ecological methods
• Harvesting, washing, and packing produce
• Medicinal herb and flower production and harvesting
• Compost management and soil‑building practices
• Light infrastructure projects
• Assisting with market days, and community distribution
• Supporting volunteer workdays and short‑term farm helpers
• Participating in farm teaching days, tours, and educational events when available

• Regenerative and ecological farming systems
• Soil health, composting, and fertility building
• Protected culture and season extension techniques
• Medicinal herb cultivation and processing
• Community‑based agriculture and education

• Skilled or experienced in farming, gardening, or land‑based work (or highly motivated to learn)

• Must love animals: we share the land with three dogs, one cat, bees, and chickens.
