About the Opportunity
The Breast Imaging Nurse Navigator serves as a key liaison between patients, radiologists, surgeons, and oncology teams to ensure seamless coordination of care for individuals undergoing breast imaging, biopsy, and treatment planning. The role focuses on patient education, scheduling, and clinical support to optimize outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
What You Will Do- Serve as a central point of contact for patients requiring follow‑up care after abnormal screening results, explaining procedures, providing educational materials, and obtaining informed consent for breast biopsies.
- Liaise between patients and medical professionals—radiologists, surgeons, and pathologists—to ensure seamless care and track patients requiring further diagnostic testing.
- Triage patient calls regarding pre‑ and post‑biopsy complications, evaluate patients in clinic as needed, and coordinate outside consults for surgery or biopsy.
- Call pathology results, communicate findings to patients and providers, and send information to surgical and oncology navigators for atypical findings.
- Obtain MRI orders for newly diagnosed patients, schedule MRI‑guided biopsies, and follow up on MRI reports for callbacks.
- Assist with vital signs monitoring during adverse reactions (e.g., vasovagal episodes, lidocaine toxicity).
- Attend tumor board meetings to facilitate necessary imaging and procedures discussed in conference.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department.
- Model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Oncology and/or Women’s Wellness experience, preferred.
- Basic understanding of mammography and breast imaging workflows, preferred.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Colorado or a valid compact state, required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), required.
- Breast Navigator Certification, preferred.
- Minimum Associate Nursing Degree (positions hired after 07/01/2018);
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
