Job Description Overview
We are permitted to host outdoor activities on Curecanti National Recreation Area land (including Blue Mesa Reservoir).
Ideal candidates should have an entrepreneurial mindset and resilience against failure and discrimination in the outdoors. We are a woman-owned and guided operation filling a market demand that has been underserved, especially for women-focused outdoor education. Effective communication and marketing skills are crucial for success in this role, as spreading the word about our events is essential.
Ideal Candidates
- Passionate about helping diverse individuals engage with the outdoors.
- Confident in fishing, hunting, foraging, homesteading, and/or survival skills, as they will be teaching classes.
- Possess an entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, and innovative.
- Active on Facebook, as our company is an online/outdoor startup.
- Team-oriented, supportive of other guides and events.
- Have a stable secondary income, as this is a part-time role.
- Not currently employed by another outfitter.
- Interested in a long-term position (more than 2 years) with Uncharted.
Minimum Requirements
- Event planning skills and foresight.
- Lead 6 in-person educational events independently.
- Guide 1 joint retreat with the Dream Team.
- Coordinate social events like happy hours or fundraisers.
- Host popular client events and help create new ones based on experience.
- Promote events within local Facebook groups; marketing content provided.
- Identify affordable indoor venues if needed.
- GPS device for insurance purposes.
- Pass a background check.
- Respect communication boundaries; prefer email for work-related communication.
- Ensure events have a return on investment.
Launching Plan (30/60/90 days)
30 Days
- Confirm event dates, upload to website with manager assistance.
- Understand permitted lands and indoor venue options.
- Training on social media marketing and CRM system use.
- Assist other guides with marketing and attend their events.
- Share your events on Facebook.
- Bi-weekly check-ins for support and training.
60 Days
- Host your launch event or join existing ones to promote your role.
- Continue shadowing other guides' events.
- Share ongoing updates on Facebook.
- Bi-weekly check-ins continue.
90 Days
- Receive Uncharted gear and access to events at cost.
- Pro Deal Letters and access to donations from partners.
- Quarterly review and check-in.

Not Required
- Guide School (not required in Colorado).
- Private guiding is not necessary.
- Insurance, liability waivers, and legal documents are handled by us.
