The Town of New Castle seeks qualified and energetic applicants with strong management skills for the position of Parks Manager
. This highly responsible position provides management and hands‑on support to enhance the operations, maintenance and capital improvement activities for the Town of New Castle parks and gardens.
Job duties include:
- Developing and managing an annual agronomic program
- Managing a tree maintenance program
- Managing a noxious weed program
- Assisting with long‑range capital planning, budgeting, special events preparation, and snow removal
The Town’s Park System consists of approximately 50 acres of irrigated turf and several more acres of native public open space.
The Parks Manager supervises one of the largest departments within public works, including a full‑time staff of three and a seasonal staff of four.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of turf grass maintenance, irrigation maintenance, staff scheduling, and construction supervision
- Experience with on‑job training is available to the right candidate
Compensation: $34/hr + DOQ. Full time, year‑round. Excellent benefit package.

Additional Benefits:
- Vacation:
Accrues at 10 days per year during the first year of employment and increases one day per year up to a maximum of 20 days per year - Holidays: 10 paid days per year
- Floating Holiday:
Employees receive one floating holiday in each anniversary year after completing 365 calendar days of employment - Sick Leave:
Accrues at one day per month - Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance:
The Town pays 100% of the employee’s premium and 75% of all eligible dependent’s premium - Life Insurance: $25,000 for the employee

Employees may purchase Aflac products and set aside pretax dollars for out‑of‑pocket medical expenses and dependent care expenses - Retirement Plan:
Employees contribute 4% of wages to the 401(a) Retirement Plan; the Town matches dollar‑for‑dollar and employee is vested in the match over a five‑year period. Full‑time employees may elect to contribute additional dollars to a 457(b) deferred compensation retirement plan
