Duties
Are you curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about making systems work better? Join our team to play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient management of environmental and permit data. You will work closely with application developers, business teams, and subject matter experts to support both new and existing data collection and reporting. You'll help troubleshoot complex issues, ensure compliance with state and federal data standards, and identify long-term, sustainable solutions - not just quick fixes.
Your analysis of the intersection and interaction of business process and IT data systems will help spot and resolve emerging problems early, and your contributions will directly support our goal of achieving some of the lowest data error rates in the country. What you will do:
- Business analysis:
- Support business teams and the EPA to identify data and application needs.
- Follow Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) guidelines while documenting IT workflows and processes.
- Assist business subject matter experts develop and refine user stories.
- Data analysis:
Review data elements and database schemas. - Troubleshoot dataflow and data management issues and requests.
Six (6) years of experience and/or education as described below:
- Experiencein business analysis of Information Technology (IT) projects and/or agency-wide initiatives.
- Educationinvolving a major study in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Business Administration, or closely related field.
Examples of how to qualify:
- 6 years of experience.
- 5 years of experience AND 30-59 semester or 45-89 quarter college credits.
- 4 years of experience AND 60-89 semester or 90-134 quarter college credits (Associate’s degree).
- 4 years of experience AND completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in IT or related program.
- 3 years of experience AND 90-119 semester or 135-179 quarter college credits.
- 2 years of experience AND a Bachelor’s degree.
- 1 year of experience AND a Master’s degree or above.
Desired Qualifications:
- Four years of experience managing large databases, performing data queries, and analyzing data trends.
- Experience managing scientific data, specifically water quality permitting data.
- Business Analysis Certification and/or Certified Scrum Master.
