Position SummaryHuman Resources Generalist 2:
This position is accountable for assisting in the location's day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office in a fast-paced manufacturing plant environment. The Human Resources Generalist 2 carries out responsibilities for all implementation and administration of human resource programs including but not limited to the following.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Position hours Tuesday – Friday Noon to 9pm. Will be required to work one (2) Saturdays a month, from 8am to Noon. Additional hours during the week will be added to support a 40+ hour work week.
- Comply with PCC Code of Conduct requirements and all PCC Rules (e.g., Quality and Safety).
- Responsible for understanding, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with all relevant employment Federal and State legislative requirements.
- Provide guidance and support on performance management concerns through fair and consistent application of appropriate disciplinary procedures and/or legal requirements.
- Coach managers & supervisors to assist in their issue resolutions, professional development and team effectiveness.
- Recruit qualified candidates for hourly and salaried positions to meet plant production requirements. Maintains applicant tracking system and assists with updates of job descriptions as appropriate.
- Maintain Workday and ADP. Assist with export compliance requirements.
- Administer hourly and salary benefit programs.
- Assist with work investigations of employee concerns and discipline.
- Provide new employees with a comprehensive onboarding program to enable a smooth transition into the organization.
- Support coordination of local training, development and tracking of hourly and salary team members.
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs to facilitate consistency and equity.
- Prepare internal HR related documents including employment, promotion, transfer letters, and termination forms.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation throughout employment history for all employees.
- Support/lead and implement various HR projects and initiatives.
- Facilitate legal and regulatory compliance to all internal and external reporting entities by preparing and maintaining required reports and policies, handling unemployment claims, and conducting required investigations.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of workforce relations and how they apply to the organization.
- Make recommendations on disciplinary matters and attend disciplinary meetings with management when necessary.
- Assist with positive employee relations.
- Foster a safe working environment that encourages equal employment opportunities for all staff.
- Provide regulatory and policy advice on workforce-related matters.
- Partner with Safety, Operations and HR Manager to understand employee physical restrictions and make sure accommodations and care plans are being met including but not limited to setting up appointments, checking in with employees, filing medical documentation and more.
- Demonstrate confidence in managing conflict situations and develop solutions in the best interest of stakeholders.
- Maintain calm, professional attitude and approach in emotional and complex situations.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with all employees.
- Listen to and respond to concerns in a timely manner.
- Partnered with Division’s Payroll team, process payroll locally.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of Human Resources discipline
- Good understanding of legal standards (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and Workers Compensation Laws)
- Detail oriented/organized individual with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Proficient with ERP systems, ADP, HRIS systems (Workday experience a plus), Excel, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or related field or equivalent experience
- SHRM-CP or other HR certification preferred
- 3 to 5 years of HR Generalist experience including recruitment, benefits, and employee relations
- Exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
- Exposure to moderate noise
- Exposure to hazardous chemical environment
- Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment including hardhat, metatarsal shoes, hearing protection, safety vest and safety glasses
