Requirements

To be seriously considered for this role, you’ll need to have:

  • Education:

    A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in nursing, public health, microbiology, medical technology, epidemiology, or related healthcare field.
  • Experience:

    Primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology or related field. Specialized training in Infection Prevention preferred.
  • Licenses/Certification:
    Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within 2 years of hire.
Responsibilities

We are committed to improving the health of our community by delivering exceptional care and services. As part of the team in the Employee Health Department, you will:

  • Implements components of the organization-wide Infection Prevention and Control Program under the direction of the Director of Infection Prevention & Employee Health.
  • Conducts infection surveillance using CDC and NHSN definitions across Gunnison Valley Health, including Long-Term Care, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), and Outpatient Clinic settings.
  • Analyzes infection surveillance data and prepares reports for relevant committees and Quality leadership.
  • Participates in outbreak investigation, mitigation, and public health reporting.
  • Conducts infection prevention rounds in clinical and procedural areas.
  • Evaluates sterilization, high-level disinfection, environmental cleaning, and safe injection practices.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation (42 CFR 482.42), Long-Term Care F880 requirements, and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regulations.
  • Supports accreditation readiness activities aligned with Joint Commission and AAAHC standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of evolving CDC, CMS, and accreditation standards.
  • Escalates identified regulatory or infection control risks to the Director of Infection Prevention & Employee Health.
  • Conducts environmental infection prevention assessments in assigned settings.
Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 36 hours/week
