POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Communications Manager, provides radio dispatch services for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Dispatches law enforcement, fire, emergency medical, health representatives, wildlife officers, and animal control.
- Retrieves and maintains information for National Crime Information Center/Colorado Crime Information Center crime computer.
- Maintains liaison with other enforcement agencies providing information on matters occurring in mutual jurisdiction or of mutual interest.
- Maintains radio log in compliance with the Federal Communications Commission and maintains an accurate log of all activities, incidents and telephone calls received.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with Tribal Council, Tribal Employees, other Law Enforcement Agencies, Police Personnel, and community members.
- Remains current on the Law and order code, Department Rules and Regulations, communication rules and regulations, and any other information necessary for the job.
- Works a rotating shift, to include weekends and holidays.
- Attends staff meetings and training when required or requested.
- Performs other job-related duties when required or requested.
- Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must have computer experience in software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must pass a 2-minute typing test at 35 words per minute.
- Must successfully pass the dispatch test environment, Criti Call/Test Genius, within 90 days of hire.
- Must obtain CCIC/NCIC Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must successfully complete the Communication Training Program within 180 days of hire.
- Must have or be able to obtain first aid and CPR certification within 180 days of hire.
- Must obtain the Basic Telecommunication Certification within 1 year of hire
- Must have a valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.
- Must never have been convicted of a felony. Must not have been convicted of or placed on a deferred judgement for any misdemeanor crime for 1 year prior to appointment.
- Must be of excellent character and reputation and pass a thorough background check including fingerprints and pre-employment drug testing.
- Law enforcement experience and/or communication training.
