Location: Snowmass Village
Community Development Director
Position in the Snowmass Village Community Development Department. In-person role.
Responsibilities- Provides effective leadership and management to create a positive, cohesive development review team and work environment.
- Provides overall direction for current and long‑range planning, compliance with adopted building codes, and other Town policies related to the development review process.
- Provides direction on enforcement of zoning, land use, and building regulations.
- Serves as a visible spokesperson in the community on development and planning issues.
- Manages long‑range and current planning projects, including updating comprehensive plans and assisting with housing policy and environmental policy development.
- Processes and facilitates complex land use applications through the development review process.
- Works with the Town’s GIS division to maintain the zoning map of the Town of Snowmass Village.
- Reviews and improves the development review process, including monthly billings and fee structure.
- Manages revenue from permits and applications to offset operating costs.
- Functions as an integral member of the Town’s executive management team in formulating budgets, annual operating plans, and meeting strategic objectives.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Design, or a closely related field.
- Four years’ experience working as a Planner.
- Three years of supervisory experience in a government agency related to land development, construction, site, or building design evaluation.
- Extensive prior management experience in all phases of long‑range and current planning and the building code enforcement and inspection process.
- Understanding of the planning and construction process for complex multi‑use projects.
- Ability to manage changing public demands while balancing code and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to create and manage a cohesive multi‑disciplinary team.
- Ability to facilitate ongoing redevelopment in the Town ensuring compliance with all codes and consideration of community interests.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
