About The Role Summary
The Senior Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for originating a significant volume of consumer loans, overseeing the entire loan origination process. This role requires expertise in underwriting, financial analysis, and strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. You will support the Consumer Loan Manager throughout the loan process, interacting professionally with customers, vendors, the public, and bank staff to enhance the overall efficiency and reputation of the bank.
The starting compensation for this position ranges from $34.42 to $41.32 per hour. Compensation offers are assessed individually, considering factors such as geographic location, experience, and education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Proficient in HELOCs, RE Term Loans, Personal Loans, Personal Lines of Credit, and Auto Loans.
- Focus primarily on underwriting HELOCs in the LOS system, with additional responsibilities for underwriting other consumer loan products, including processing subordination, extensions, and changes to term requests while balancing profitability and risk.
- Collect financial data to support underwriting, prepare personal cash flow worksheets, generate loan disclosure documents, assess repayment capabilities, evaluate collateral adequacy, analyze credit reports, and verify that documentation requirements are satisfied.
- Understand complex self‑employed income and possess the ability to interpret individual and business tax returns, reviewed financial statements, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to complete loan servicing tasks.
- Effectively communicate loan decisions, including denials, alternative options, and rate calculations in a clear and professional manner.
- Build and nurture relationships with potential new customers while maintaining ongoing engagement with the current customer base. Deliver exceptional external customer service, presenting a professional image in all interactions.
- Meet or surpass annual loan production goals as established by management.
- Address customer inquiries, conduct application interviews, and occasionally facilitate loan closings. Ensure accurate ordering and review of initial loan disclosures and documentation, title work, and insurance coverage for existing and new loans.
- Collaborate with Personal Bankers to ensure all loan and collateral files are properly documented and maintained.
- Participate in loan committee meetings, providing insightful feedback to enhance loan offerings.
- Oversee loan monitoring, track loan maturities, and communicate with borrowers to secure timely financial information submissions.
- Review past‑due loan reports and assist in collection efforts as necessary.
- Register with NMLS and maintain compliance with SAFE Act stipulations.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and state and federal regulations, including BSA/AML, ECOA/Reg B, HMDA, CRA, FHLB, OFAC, and GLBA/privacy rules.
- Engage in community and bank‑sponsored activities that align with the mission and values of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three to five years of experience as a lender and underwriter in consumer lending.
- Three to five years of banking experience.
- Proficient computer skills with a thorough understanding of word processing, spreadsheets, and general computer operations.
- Ability to apply logical and critical thinking to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and reach conclusions.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey information clearly and promptly.
- Highly organized with the capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor, nurturing cooperative and positive working relationships while representing the bank favorably.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is conducted in an office setting. The role typically requires indoor work in a climate‑controlled space with minimal noise.
