Controller
Broomfield, CO
Salary Range: $- $/yr.
Job Description:
- Oversees all general accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets and monthly financial close.
- Directs the development, enhancement and implementation of accounting policies, controls, procedures, and processes while ensuring the highest performance standards.
- Collects and translates enterprise data, assessing for risk and profitability.
- Monitors all accounting activities to ensure conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable laws, regulations and credit union policies/procedures.
- Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to the credit union, including the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC.
- Liaison to external auditors and regulators. Major contributor for annual audit and regulatory exam.
- Ensures the accuracy of regulatory and tax reporting (FR2900, 5300 Call Report, QCD and 990).
- Oversees accounting and financial reporting for the Credit Unions investment and derivative portfolios. Ensures compliance with the Derivative program and Hedge Accounting (ASC 815).
- Three (3+) years of Financial Institution experience within a bank or a credit union.
- Ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience.
- Three (3) years of experience leading an accounting team.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Symitar and Profit Star systems experience a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field. - Minimum:
Ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience. - Minimum:
Three (3) years of experience leading an accounting team. - Ability to hire, lead and supervise others.
- Expert in financial accounting principles and GAAP.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills that promotes confidence, respect and trust.
- Develops collaborative connections at all levels of the organization.
Education and Experience:
- MBA, Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and/or CPA
- Previous work experience within the financial services/credit union industry
- Symitar and Profit Star systems experience a plus.
