Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000

Work Schedule: 40-hour work week

The Finance Assistant supports the Finance Director in managing the day-to-day operations of Eagle Valley Wildland with oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, project accounting, and budget oversight for proper budget coding for the Program. Requires strong leadership, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to providing excellent, professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. This position provides support to the Finance Director.

Job Functions
  • Manage and collect funding from multiple intergovernmental agreements, applicable grants, and reconciliation of account receivable accounts.
  • Prepares invoices based on the Commitment warrant and the information maintained by the in the intergovernmental agreements to submit to the Finance Director for processing.
  • Makes bank deposits.
  • Reconciles various bank accounts.
  • Preparing the final statement with supporting documentation for Eagle Valley Wildland when appropriate for the Eagle River Fire Protection Board of Directors, various town councils, multiple metro districts and Home Owners Associations in alignment with intergovernmental agreements reporting requirements.
  • Attends training sessions on Tyler Technology updates and general industry standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Eagle Valley Wildland program.
  • Participates in the annual audit preparation.
  • Maintains highly effective internal controls according to policy.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget and long-range financial planning.
  • Support capital planning, grant compliance, and financial forecasting.
  • Provide financial analysis for Eagle Valley Wildland projects, programs, and policy decisions.
  • Participates in the management of District webpages, records, and reporting schedules.
  • Represent the department in interactions with District staff, Board of Directors, auditors, and the public.
  • Provide backup support for the Finance Director.
  • Perform related finance, collections, and administrative work as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with (2) years of experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
  • Experience with Tyler Technologies Accounting Software, or similar financial software systems.
  • Knowledge of local governmental fund accounting desirable.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of departmental operations, rules, regulations, procedures and general ledger accounting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adequately follow procedures and maintain clerical and accounting records.
  • Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  • Proficient in desktop software applications including Microsoft Office, databases, spreadsheets, 10-key by touch.
  • Ability to analyze fiscal problems and recommend sound solutions.

  • Working knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, auditors, and the public.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances and regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability change between functions accurately, despite constant interruptions.
  • Ability to attend evening meetings on occasion.
  • Ability to operate District vehicles safely.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Customer service oriented.
