Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of high-level clerical and administrative duties including account reconciliations, internal control and policy analysis of Town Departments, budget book preparation, and implementation of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements.

General Accounting
- Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Assists with year-end close processes and audit preparation.
- Supports budget book development.
- Reviews financial transactions for accuracy.
Internal Controls
- Interacts with internal and external stakeholders regarding understanding of the Town’s policies, procedures, and Municipal Code.
- Reviews departmental procedures for compliance with internal control standards and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Documents internal control processes and ensure they are consistently followed.
- Provides support and training on internal controls, audit matters, and cash handling.
Capital, Lease and Subscription Based IT Arrangement (SBITA) Accounting
- Tracks and reports on capital improvement projects which include funding sources, expenditures, encumbrances, and project status.
- Maintains the capital asset ledger and performs asset capitalization, depreciation, and disposals in accordance with GASB requirements.
- Identifies, tracks, and accounts for leases and SBITAs per GASB 87 and GASB 96 standards.
Compliance and Policy
- Maintains awareness of changes in governmental accounting standards and recommends necessary updates to policies and procedures.
- Leads or provides support on GASB pronouncement implementation projects.
- Reviews existing financial policies and recommends updates to improve compliance, efficiency, and alignment with current best practices

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field supplemented by three (3) years of experience in accounting.
