Senior Manager – Electrical Engineering

Broomfield, CO – We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead an Electrical Engineering department that designs, builds, tests, validates, and maintains advanced technologies for trapped‑ion quantum computing. The leader will support and manage a team of electrical and test engineers and technicians. The technical portfolio includes low‑noise analog electronics, RF, PCB layout, digital design, and FPGA programming.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish strategic plans for your team, including scope, milestones, and key decision points.
  • Develop test plans and identify key handoffs with technical partners.
  • Recognize critical interdependencies with peer groups and adjacent disciplines.
  • Track and report progress against the plan.
  • Allocate resources and prioritize to meet milestones.
  • Identify and manage risk/opportunity.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians delivering innovative solutions in analog and digital electronics to enable the next generation of trapped‑ion quantum computers.
  • Collaborate with quantum computer system architects to derive control requirements for current and future systems.
  • Own the technology portfolio for this technical area, including IP development and capture, procurement planning, long‑term development strategy, and roadmap planning.
  • Hire, lead, and mentor junior managers.
  • Mentor, coach, and train direct‑report engineers and technicians.
  • Meet project objectives by hiring and developing staff with the right skills for success.
  • Plan and nurture career development of direct‑report engineers and technicians.
  • Perform technical goal setting, employee performance assessments, and compensation adjustments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum.
  • Minimum 10+ years of industry experience developing advanced electronics systems.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or person granted asylum or refugee status).
  • Must not be a People's Republic of China or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen, due to national security requirements.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (preferred).
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Demonstrable expertise in one or more fields of electrical engineering (analog/digital design, RF systems, FPGA programming, etc.).
  • Experience in complex task management (cost, schedule, risk/opportunity).
  • A track record of high‑technology development.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
  • A calm, even‑keeled temperament to keep conversations productive under pressure.
  • Cross‑functional mentality: commitment to empowering and enabling all organizations within the business.
  • Strategic thinking: aptitude for aligning tactical activities with strategic business objectives.
  • Programmatic acumen: experience creating, driving, and tracking complex project plans.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Annual base salary: $207,000 – $258,000 (inclusive of bonus target when applicable).
