Director of Engineering – Spacecraft / Colorado, USA About the Role
This is a newly created leadership position within a high-growth New Space organisation. The Director of Engineering will provide senior systems-level leadership and technical oversight across multiple robotic spacecraft missions, including active government programmes. The role owns missions end to end, evolves an existing spacecraft baseline into a scalable multi-mission platform, and defines repeatable architectures, interfaces, and processes to support docking, servicing, and reboost missions.

- Play a critical role in scaling a robotic spacecraft platform into a repeatable, multi-mission architecture.
- Lead engineering teams through complex missions involving docking, servicing, and proximity operations.
- Work in a high-trust, principles-led environment with real ownership and impact.
- Influence long-term technical direction across spacecraft, software, robotics, and systems architecture.
- Relocation support is available for candidates moving to Colorado.
- Experience scaling engineering teams or space programmes from early-stage growth.
- End-to-end ownership of multiple spacecraft missions, from concept through execution. An understanding of repeatable and scalable missions necessary.
- Proven ability to mentor and manage engineering teams within complex technical environments.
