MWH is a leading water and wastewater treatment focused general contractor in the US with a rich history dating back to the 19th century Fueled by the mission of Building a Better World our teams are rapidly growing across the nation As a company committed to our teams well being and growth we offer a supportive work environment opportunities for advancement and the chance to contribute to a mission that shapes the future Your expertise and ambition are valued here The work we do matters The critical systems infrastructure we build changes lives betters communities and improves ecosystems If youre passionate about this we want to hear from you About the Role The Construction Project Controls Specialist is responsible for independently reviewing evaluating and validating project controls systems and processes across active construction projects This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy consistency and effectiveness of cost management scheduling risk management change control and project reporting The Specialist provides objective oversight to confirm alignment with contractual requirements internal standards and industry best practices while identifying potential risks inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement This position partners closely with project teams and leadership to strengthen project controls execution and support successful project outcomes This is an on site position based at our corporate office in Broomfield CO working Monday Friday with approximately 15 travel as needed Essential Functions Project Controls Auditing Conduct independent audits of project controls systems procedures and documentation across construction projects
Evaluate the effectiveness of cost control schedule control change management risk management and forecasting processes
Assess compliance with contract terms internal policies and applicable regulatory or funding requirements
Verify the accuracy and reliability of project data reports and dashboards
Cost & Financial Controls Review project budgets cost estimates cost reports and forecasts for accuracy and completeness
Audit change orders claims contingencies and allowances to ensure proper approval and documentation
Identify cost variances trends and potential overruns and assess mitigation strategies
Risk & Change Management Audit project risk registers and risk management processes
Assess how risks opportunities and changes are identified evaluated approved and incorporated into cost and schedule forecasts
Review the effectiveness of change control governance and documentation
Reporting & Governance Evaluate the consistency timeliness and quality of project controls reporting
Prepare clear objective audit reports outlining findings root causes impacts and recommendations
Present audit results to project leadership senior management or clients as required
Track corrective actions and follow up on implementation
Continuous Improvement & Advisory Support Identify systemic issues control gaps and best practice improvements across projects
Provide advisory input to strengthen project controls frameworks standards and procedures
Support the development of lessons learned and knowledge sharing initiatives
Travel and Work Location Travel is required as needed Estimate 15
Work Location is Full Time in the Broomfield CO Office Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Finance Accounting or a related field
Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education
58 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following
Construction project controls
Cost engineering cost control
Project scheduling CPMProject management or project auditing
Direct experience working on active construction or capital projects not purely financial audits
Working knowledge ofCost estimating budgeting and forecasting
Schedule development and analysis CPMChange management and claims support
Risk and contingency management
Ability to interpret
Construction contracts
Project schedules and cost reports
Change orders pay applications and forecasts
Preferred Qualifications Experience in CMiC ERP Excel and Power
