We are seeking an experienced GRS Safety Lead for our West region in the United States of America (USA) to drive transportation safety excellence and ensure consistent implementation of safety standards across our network. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on operational safety management to create a robust safety culture and reduce on‑the‑road (OTR) safety incidents and events across all miles.
In this position you will be responsible for collaborating with local operations and support teams to execute road safety standards, supporting harmonization between OTR and under the roof (UTR) / on‑site safety practices, and engaging contracted transportation partners in your region—including Amazon Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), Flex Delivery Partners (DPs), and Middle Mile carriers—to support their conformance to Amazon safety standards.
You will reduce safety incidents and events by monitoring, analyzing, and reporting key road safety metrics and executing safety standard work while utilizing resources and support provided by the greater Global Road Safety (GRS) organization.
In this role you will serve as your region’s road safety subject matter expert (SME) and the GRS Field Execution organization’s primary representative. You will work closely with local teams to manage OTR safety, serving as the primary link between GRS customers and the greater GRS organization. Your responsibilities include ensuring GRS standards and procedures are practical, driving compliance, reducing risk, and standardizing incident management through continuous improvement.
You will build side‑by‑side relationships with operations to identify opportunities and solicit feedback from customers and partners.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Lead day‑to‑day OTR safety operations across the regional network, ensuring consistent implementation of safety standards.
- Monitor and analyze GRS key performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Execute safety strategies and collect data for comprehensive risk assessments.
- Respond to regulatory requests for information and interactions.
- Oversee incident investigations, ensuring compliance with Amazon, FMCSA, DOT, and other agency regulatory standards.
- Implement standardized risk and hazard data collection processes in the field.
- Develop and implement corrective actions based on investigation findings.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional leaders, third‑party carriers, and partners.
- Collaborate with GRS Programmatic Solutions and Strategic Services teams to provide insights and deliver OTR tools and solutions.
- Lead high‑impact safety projects and initiatives addressing regional needs.
- Manage change requests related to transportation processes regionally.
- Provide data, implementation, and feedback for safety awareness materials and training programs.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety processes and procedures.
Work Environment:
Work in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather. Office‑based work combined with field visits to various facilities. Expect at least 50% travel within the assigned region.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or a related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Info Path, SharePoint, etc.
- Experience creating reports, interpreting metrics, and driving overall insights or analysis
- Minimum 3+ years of transportation safety or operations experience
