Seeking a School Director for the 2026–2027 School Year

Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork seeks a collaborative School Director to lead our community beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Grounded in Anthroposophy and the principles of Waldorf education, our school is devoted to nurturing the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development of each child while cultivating a warm, inclusive, and engaged school community.

About Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork

WSRF offers a unique opportunity to lead a mature Waldorf school, in a setting of extraordinary natural beauty and community connection. WSRF’s campus sits on 13 acres on the Roaring River surrounded by open land and wetlands and nestled in the foothills of Mt. Sopris in Carbondale, CO. The Candidate Brings The Following

Experience And Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS or equivalent).
  • Experience in Waldorf education and pedagogy.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in school administration and collaborative leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading through transition and change, with the ability to build consensus and make difficult decisions.
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, financial sustainability, budget development, enrollment management, and facilities oversight.
  • Excellent organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and use data.
  • Mature written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in consensus-based and collaborative governance structures.
About

The Role

As a member of the administration, the School Director shares the vision of collaborative leadership, creating an environment of stability and balance that allows the school to fulfill its mission and each member of the Faculty and school community to fulfill their duties. The School Director serves as part of the Administrative Council, the school’s primary leadership team. The Administrative Council is responsible for oversight and support for daily operations, including school programs, personnel, facilities, and resources, while effectively advancing strategic goals for school improvement.

The School Director also works closely with the Pedagogical Council and its chair, and the Faculty, and Pedagogical Mentor, helping to oversee and coordinate all activities related to the pedagogical mission of the school. The focus in support of the Faculty and…
