Position Description

The Briggsdale School District RE-10J, Briggsdale, Colorado, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent
. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1st, 2026
.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the board of education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Enrollment: 160 pk-12

Location: Briggsdale is a tiny, unincorporated, rural community in northeastern Weld County, Colorado, known for its tight-knit atmosphere, agricultural roots, and proximity to the Pawnee National Grasslands. The economy is primarily centered on agriculture and ranching combined with oil and gas industry. Briggsdale is situated roughly 40 miles east of Fort Collins and 35 miles northeast of Greeley.

Salary and Benefits: $125,000-$150,000 (240 day contract) depending upon experience;
The district will offer Family health, dental, vision. Vacation (20 days) and sick leave. Housing available for the superintendent. Other negotiated benefits.

Qualifications

The Briggsdale School District Board of Education seeks a superintendent who understands the unique strengths and expectations of a rural school district and is committed to serving the Briggsdale community. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to build positive relationships with the Board of Education, staff, students, and community members. The Board is looking for a visible leader who respects community values, supports student success, and is willing to become an active part of the Briggsdale community.

  • Administrator: The next superintendent should demonstrate strong administrative and operational leadership. Experience in school finance, including budgeting, salary structures, and long-term planning for capital improvements, is essential. The candidate should have experience with human resources including hiring, contracts, evaluations, and personnel management. A strong understanding of curriculum, instructional programs, and educational compliance is expected. The superintendent must hold appropriate Colorado licensure and be qualified to conduct educator evaluations.

    Knowledge of rural school district operations and the ability to work cooperatively with county agencies and legal entities is also important.
  • Educator: The Board seeks a Colorado-certified school leader with prior leadership experience and a strong commitment to student success. The superintendent should be a collaborative educator who values stakeholder input while maintaining a strong focus on academic achievement and opportunities for all students. In a small district, the superintendent must be willing to engage in many aspects of district operations and support staff wherever needed.

    The successful candidate will be a compassionate and approachable educator who understands the needs of students, staff, and families.
  • Communicator: The superintendent should be a visible and approachable leader who communicates openly with students, staff, parents, and the community. The Board values a leader who listens carefully to differing viewpoints and fosters trust through transparency and consistent communication. Building strong staff relationships and maintaining a presence at school activities and community events are important in a close-knit rural community.

The superintendent should be willing to make difficult decisions when necessary while maintaining fairness and integrity.
