Job Title: Assistant Principal
Reports to: Building Principal
Evaluated by: Building Principal
Job Goal: The goal of this position is to assist the Building Principal with instructional and organizational leadership, direction, supervision, operations, and accountability at the school. Implement school practices, procedures, and policies for the attainment of the school’s educational philosophy, goals, and objectives and the District’s mission and strategic initiatives. Enhance and support growth and academic achievement of all students. Assist with management of the human resources and inspire vision, motivate excellence in instruction, and model service-oriented administration.

- Knowledge of data analysis of student achievement, curriculum and instruction, budgeting and accounting, special education laws, social and emotional learning
- Advanced skills in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels.
- Ability to be flexible and patient and adjust to changing priorities.
- Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District policies, and building and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
- Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment.
- Instructional leadership
- Support curriculum implementation and instructional best practices
- Observe classrooms, provide feedback/coaching, and lead teacher evaluations
- Analyze student data to guide interventions and instructional planning
- Staff supervision and development
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teachers and support staff
- Plan and deliver professional development and coaching cycles
- Manage schedules, assignments, and substitute coverage
- Student behavior and culture
- Oversee discipline systems, restorative practices, and behavior interventions
- Handle complex student conduct cases and parent conferences
- Promote positive school climate and student engagement initiatives
- Operations and logistics
- Manage daily building operations (schedules, bell times, supervision)
- Coordinate safety, attendance, transportation, and facilities needs
- Oversee extracurriculars, clubs, and event logistics
- Family and community engagement
- Communicate with families, community partners, and external stakeholders
- Facilitate parent meetings, outreach, and partnership development
- Data, assessment, and accountability
- Monitor assessment results, attendance, and behavior data
- Support school improvement planning and progress monitoring
- Compliance and administrative tasks
- Ensure adherence to district, state, and federal policies (IEPs, special education, Title programs)
- Manage reporting, paperwork, schedules, and budget tracking as assigned
- Safety and crisis management
- Lead emergency response planning, drills, and incident response
- Serve as a building leader during crises
- Other leadership tasks
- Act as principal in their absence and lead committees or initiatives
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance conversations
- Duties and assignments may vary based on building assignment, academic year, and school needs.
- Principal Endorsement
- Master’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum Leadership, or related field.
- Colorado Teaching License
- At least one year of experience is preferred.
