Sun Valley Academy is seeking dynamic, student-centered leaders to join our Administrative Team. Our administrators serve as instructional, cultural, and operational leaders who ensure a safe, high-performing, and supportive learning environment for students and staff.
As the Assistant Principal, in partnership with the Principal, you will provide site-based leadership to increase student achievement by implementing and maintaining effective educational programs and services for students and staff.
Responsibilities- Serve as administrative lead in the Principal's absence.
- Collaborate with school leadership teams to establish vision, values, and campus goals.
- Foster a welcoming and positive school climate for students, staff, and families.
- Serve as a public advocate for the school and support strong community partnerships.
- Provide general supervision and support for students across campus.
- Ensure successful implementation and monitoring of the School Improvement Plan.
- Oversee student services, discipline systems, and extracurricular programs.
- Implement student discipline practices that promote positive behavior and a safe learning environment.
- Provide leadership in monitoring and improving student attendance.
- Assist the Principal with evaluation, coaching, and professional development of instructional staff.
- Support the planning and coordination of school co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and assigning certified and classified staff.
- Develop teacher leadership and facilitate effective grade-level or content-area teams.
- Support staff development initiatives aligned with school goals and instructional priorities.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to implement meaningful student assessments, analyze data, and monitor student growth.
- Coordinate academic support teams to review individual student learning plans and progress toward goals.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with all Board policies and school procedures.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to design, implement, and monitor school improvement initiatives.
- Assist in planning and facilitating meetings, professional development sessions, and community workshops.
- Attend meetings, district activities, and professional trainings as assigned.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth through professional organizations, conferences, collaboration with colleagues, and educational research.
- Represent the school in a professional and positive manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to support and develop staff.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data to support instructional improvement and student achievement.

- Commitment to serving as a positive role model and demonstrating respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in the use of office technology and school management systems.
- Master's Degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience demonstrating improved student learning.
- Experience in instructional leadership roles such as Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, or Instructional Coach preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in data-driven decision-making.
- Effective presentation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with staff and community members.
- Ability to work independently while supervising and supporting others.
- Experience working in diverse educational environments.
- Evidence of effective use of technology to perform job responsibilities.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Valid Arizona Principal Certificate.
- Arizona Administrative Certificate with Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification.
