NATURE OF WORK:

Under direct supervision, the Floating Lead Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team within the three classrooms while providing exceptional childcare that enhances the lives of the students in his/her care and ensures safety, care and well-being of all assigned children while conducting various childcare duties. Works closely with the primary lead teachers to implement curriculum activities, Pyramid Plus, and maintain daily routines and schedules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead by example; encourage team teaching success through modeling and coaching.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of all children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Extensive knowledge about the program; giving parents a tour of the facility and answering any question regarding the program.
  • Provides direct childcare and interacts with children; ensures the safety, care, well-being, and promotion of developmental milestones for assigned children.
  • Plan individual and whole group (age-appropriate) activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Collect child information from parents daily to ensure quality care.
  • Always ensure a child safe environment. Documents all illnesses and accidents, as necessary.
  • Work with director on the enrollment and registration of children.
  • Continue with the implementation of the Pyramid model focusing on social and emotional development.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary facility.
  • Daily assessment of facility safety checks.
  • Promotes and observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment; secures work sites as necessary; may attend safety committee meetings, actively participates in and may conduct safety trainings.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of the team.
  • Actively works to progress the Town’s goal of zero waste and carbon neutrality by minimizing unnecessary consumption (of energy, water, paper, plastic, ink, etc.), seeking environmentally preferred products (e.g., reusable, recycled content, non-fossil fuel), and supporting environmental initiatives through participation, promotion, and accurate storytelling.
  • Works directly with all Lead Teachers to ensure classrooms are upheld to the lead teacher’s standards while the lead teachers are out. Will be acting lead teacher in each classroom to cover the main leads.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED. Bachelor’s degree in child development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related field plus additional training in Management and Early Childhood Education preferred.

  • CDA or other Early Childhood Credential – Minimum level II EC credential in Colorado Shines.
Licenses/Certification(s):

Current CPR/First Aid certification. Possession of a valid Colorado State Driver’s License. Additional technical certifications may be required:

  • Must complete Prevention of Shaken Baby, Recognition and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect, Prevention of SIDS, Standard Precautions and FEMA within 90 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

REQUIRED:
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of child development from birth to 4 years.
  • Dynamic people, management, communication, and guest service skills.
  • High physical and mental energy level.
  • Quick reflexes and responses.
  • Ability to focus on many children at one time.
  • Attend trainings and college courses as needed.
Environmental Factors:

Busy, sometimes chaotic environment. Work is performed primarily indoors with some work performed outdoors in varying types of weather. Must be able to work some nights and holidays.
