**** POSITION:
** Western Colorado University invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the area of Strings and Orchestra. Teaching responsibilities will include private lessons on all classical string instruments, string methods class for music education students, and directing the Chamber Orchestra. Other courses may be included in the teaching load based on need and qualifications.

The scheduling of private lesson times is flexible, and the Chamber Orchestra typically rehearses two hours a week on Tuesday evenings. The selected candidate will have the time and flexibility to pursue other professional opportunities in the Gunnison Valley, which could include freelance work as a private string lesson instructor, independent ensemble director, summer music camp instructor, etc.

* QUALIFICATIONS:

** A Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a closely-related field is strongly preferred. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Music (or a closely related-field) with significant teaching or performing experience may be considered. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education, excellence in teaching, and willingness to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.

** COMPENSATION:
** Pay for this position will fluctuate based on teaching duties, private lesson count, and other service needs. $1400-$1500 per credit, depending on degree and qualifications This is a non-benefited position.
