We’re looking for a passionate and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join our middle school team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a supportive environment and is committed to helping students grow academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- 📝 Plan & Deliver Instruction
Develop and implement daily lesson plans aligned with Colorado state standards to support student learning and growth. - 👩🏫 Adapt Teaching Methods
Instruct students both individually and in groups, tailoring approaches to meet diverse learning needs and styles. - 📊 Monitor Student Progress
Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, and social development to inform instruction and support. - 📚 Create Balanced Learning Experiences
Design and conduct activities that reflect a well-rounded instructional program for students from varied backgrounds and abilities. - 🤝 Collaborate with Colleagues
Work closely with fellow educators to share strategies, support student success, and contribute to a positive school culture. - 🗂️ Stay Organized
Maintain strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage classroom responsibilities and planning. - 📘 Contribute to Curriculum Development
Participate in district-wide initiatives to enhance curriculum and instructional practices.
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
- Instruct students in academic subjects using a variety of techniques such as phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition to reinforce learning and to meet students' individualized education programs (IEPs) by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate
- Meet with parents to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs.
- This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership.
- Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual‑motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
- Modify the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students.
- Teach basic skills like literacy and communication techniques, Social Emotional Learning and life skills to students with severe disabilities.
- Requires substantial organizational and time management skills.
