Principal - Florence Junior/Senior High School

Florence Jr/Sr High School is located along Highway 50 in Fremont County and serves approximately 560 students in grades 712. The school offers small class sizes, robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming, strong academic, athletic, and music programs, and a commitment to student-centered learning. Fremont RE-2 School District is intentionally developing a destination district with purposeful work, continuous improvement, and strong Husky pride.

Purpose of the Position

The Principal serves as the chief instructional, operational, and cultural leader of Florence Jr/Sr High School. The Principal is responsible for advancing the school's mission and vision, fostering a positive and inclusive school climate, and ensuring high levels of academic achievement and student engagement. The Principal leads and supervises all instructional, behavioral, and operational systems; oversees staff supervision and evaluation; ensures compliance with district, state, and federal requirements;

and represents the school with integrity, transparency, and professionalism. The Principal works collaboratively with district leadership, staff, students, families, and community partners to continuously improve outcomes for all students.

Instructional, Cultural, and Systems Leadership The Principal Will Demonstrate Successful Experience And Understanding Of
  • Instructional leadership and Standards-Based Instruction Systems (SBIS)
  • Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and curriculum implementation
  • School wide systems for MTSS, student behavior, and attendance
  • Data-driven decision-making to monitor progress and improve outcomes
  • Building and sustaining a positive, inclusive school culture
  • Technology integration and design thinking to enhance learning
  • Colorado Department of Education requirements and applicable legislation, including SB 163, SB 191, SB 212, and Special Education laws
  • District and school safety planning and procedures
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the administration of the total school program
  • Serve as the chief instructional leader responsible for teaching and learning outcomes
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate all assigned staff in accordance with district and state guidelines
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP)
  • Establish and oversee systems for student discipline, attendance, and truancy
  • Ensure effective implementation and oversight of MTSS processes
  • Oversee building-level safety planning and chair or designate leadership of the Safety Committee
  • Develop and manage school wide organizational systems, processes, and protocols
  • Lead the development and implementation of the master schedule
  • Provide general supervision of students and ensure appropriate supervision of extracurricular activities
  • Foster strong school-parent-community relationships through consistent communication and engagement
  • Represent the school positively within the district and community
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Principal directly supervises administrative, instructional, and classified staff assigned to the school.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interviewing, hiring, training, and assigning staff
  • Directing work, evaluating performance, and recognizing excellence
  • Addressing concerns and resolving conflicts in accordance with district policies and applicable laws
Qualifications
  • Colorado Initial or Professional Principal License (or eligibility for licensure), including state-approved Teacher Evaluation Training
  • Successful building-level administrative experience preferred
  • Successful secondary teaching experience
  • Strong understanding of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and educator evaluation
  • Knowledge of Colorado academic standards and assessments
  • Demonstrated success in student management, staff supervision, and school operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
