JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, the High School Principal provides visionary leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of the school's educational program and in alignment with the district strategic plan. The Principal is responsible for the academic achievement of students, the professional development and evaluation of staff, the safety and well-being of the school community, and the cultivation of strong relationships with families and the broader community.
This role requires both strong technical competencies and exemplary personal character to effectively lead a diverse school community.
- Instructional Leadership – Develops and implements a rigorous, standards‑aligned curriculum in accordance with Colorado Academic Standards and the district strategic plan and the school Unified Improvement Plan. Monitors student achievement data and leads continuous improvement efforts to close achievement gaps and elevate performance across all student populations.
- Staff Management and Evaluation – Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates all school personnel. Provides ongoing coaching and professional development aligned to district and building goals. Conducts formal and informal teacher observations in compliance with Colorado’s educator evaluation system (SB 10-191).
- School Culture and Student Support – Establishes and maintains a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment. Oversees student discipline, attendance, and restorative justice programs. Coordinates social‑emotional learning and mental health supports in partnership with school counselors and community resources.
- Operations and Resource Management – Administers the school's resources and budget responsibly, manages facilities, and ensures compliance with district policies, Colorado state law, and federal regulations including IDEA, Title I, and Title IX.
- Family and Community Engagement – Serves as the primary representative of the school to parents, community partners, and the school board. Communicates school goals, student progress, and policy updates clearly and consistently.
- Extracurricular and Activities Oversight – Supervises athletic programs, clubs, and extracurricular activities in coordination with the Athletic/Activities Director. Attends evening and weekend school events as required.
- District‑Wide Committees and Teams – Actively participates in, contributes to or leads district‑level leadership teams, committees and collaborative works as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
- Valid Colorado Principal License issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), or eligibility for licensure.
- Completion of CDE’s E‑Train Evaluator training (SB 22‑070).
- Experience in a Colorado public school district.
- Minimum 5 years successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level.
- Minimum of 3 years of school administrative or leadership experience related to school culture, student engagement and growth.
- Familiarity with Colorado’s accountability frameworks (CMAS, PSAT/SAT, Unified Improvement Plan).
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including Multilingual Learners and students with IEPs.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
