OverviewBayfield School District is seeking a substitute teacher to provide classroom instruction during regular school hours. The district is located in the mountains of Southwest Colorado, near Purgatory Resort, Wolf Creek Ski Area, and historic Durango. The area offers abundant recreational opportunities and a commitment to whole-child learning, supported by partnerships with Fort Lewis College and a Pueblo Community College campus.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Colorado driver’s license
- Completed fingerprints for a criminal background check
- Completed BSD online application
- Provide classroom instruction to fill teacher absences
- Maintain confidentiality on all matters
- Understand and accommodate student diversity
- Collaborate with colleagues and community members
- Follow state legal requirements and district and building policies and procedures
- Inspire and work collaboratively with staff and the community

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Excellent oral and written communication skills; willingness to communicate frequently with families about curriculum and student progress

- Dedication to high standards of excellence and the success of all students; ability to personalize instruction so that all are challenged to learn
- Data-driven evidence of closing the achievement gap and deep knowledge of instructional practices that will do so
- Technologically literate and motivated to use technology to enhance learning
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone
$150 per day
Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsMust be able to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
Regularly required to stand, walk, touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to stand up frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing required to distinguish bells, buzzers, beeps, and horns.
Work environment characteristics: indoor and outdoor; moderate to loud noise level. Requires vehicle operation and district equipment operation.
