Speech Language Pathologist (.8 FTE)
Full-time, 187 days (Depending on start date). Salary is based on education and experience and will be prorated per our Certified Salary Schedule not to exceed letter I ($50,500 to $94,145). The District provides its employees with a comprehensive benefits program including medical, life, and dental insurance. The District provides three medical plans for which it pays the full premium for employees, and a fourth option is a buy-up plan for which the district pays the majority of the premium.
In addition, the District pays the full employee premium for dental insurance and life insurance. The District contributes to PERA on each employee's behalf and offers additional retirement savings options as well as optional supplemental insurance. Employees also receive paid time off. Worker's compensation and unemployment insurance are provided in accordance with State law.
The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the school and school district.
Essential Functions- Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
- Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
- Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school, district and community.
- Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
- Support the philosophy and vision of the cooperative and school district.
- Participate in child find evaluations and screenings as necessary.
- Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for school based speech language services.
- Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process.
- Participate in the development of student IEP's.
- Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of classroom accommodations, curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.
- Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
- Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
- Provide therapy, follow up, and/or consultation based on student IEP's.
- Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
- Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management.
- Plan and implement transitional programs for students.
- Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
- Supervise and train staff members as assigned.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
- Evaluate the need for and obtain assistive technology and other devices for students.
- Provide training, support and guidance for the use of assistive technology in the educational setting.
- Provide bilingual evaluation and assessments as needed district wide.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Special Education Director and or the building Administrator.
