Job DescriptionProvides support for various programs occurring at DCOEC, including residential outdoor education (OE), day retreats, corporate team building, and summer activities. Instructors supervise students 24/7 during OE, manage classroom and cabin responsibilities, teach science, outdoor education and leadership classes, and develop lesson plans that meet Colorado State Standards.
Additional duties include equipment maintenance, program design, coaching staff, trail building, safety, first aid, and Lean methodology practices to improve operations.

$130/day In-Cabin rate; $100/day Out-of-Cabin rate; 2 nights/week in cabin average.
Appointment DetailsSeasonal position, January 2026 – May 2026.
Schedule:
40 hours per week. FTE: 1.00. One year only true.
- Help in design of new program activities and lesson plans that meet Colorado State Standards.
- Communicate effectively with the Director, reporting questions, problems, and concerns.
- Care for and maintain ropes course equipment, orchestrating set up and take down.
- Supervise 4th–8th grade students in a residential outdoor science school setting, overseeing cabin responsibility, high school leader supervision, meal and activity supervision, and nighttime supervision.
- Lead songs, games, announcements, and activities for large groups.
- Identify and help develop new revenue streams and programs.
- Assist peers with program responsibilities.
- Contribute to site improvements, trail building, beautification, and fire mitigation.
- Anticipate safety hazards, respond to emergencies, and provide basic first aid.
- Deliver teambuilding and programming to Retreat and Corporate Groups.
- Attend staff trainings and meetings, including orientation and professional development.
- Set up and tear down classrooms, maintain equipment and supplies, and develop teaching aids.
- Apply Lean methodologies to ensure continuous improvement in program and operations.
- Teach activity groups of up to 15–16 students in outdoor class setting and handle discipline and behavior.
- Supervise appropriate behavior and manners in the dining hall.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
CPR/First Aid Certification - American Heart Association.
EducationBachelor's Degree in Education or Recreation.
