DefinitionRoaring Fork Schools is seeking the next principal of Bridges High School, an alternative education high school in Carbondale, CO. Bridges High School offers a small‑school experience, typically enrolling between 50‑100 students each year, and operates on six 6‑week hexters rather than semesters. Bridges also includes Ready For The World, an 18‑21 transition program.
The next Bridges HS Principal will be responsible for the collective success of the school—learning, growth, and achievement of both students and staff. As the primary instructional leader, they will facilitate critical discourse, data‑driven reflection on curriculum, assessment, instruction, and student progress, and create structures to support improvement. They will develop systems that maximize finite resources and human capital, foster collaboration, and lead constructive change to improve outcomes for students.
SupervisionReceived and Exercised
Receives direct supervision from the Assistant Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer.
Supervises licensed staff and non‑licensed staff.
Primary DutiesStrategic Leadership: Collaboratively develop the vision, mission, values, expectations, and goals of the campus; provide data‑based progress monitoring; collaborate with staff and community to implement strategies to move those goals forward.
Instructional Leadership: Promote school‑wide efforts to establish, implement, and refine curriculum, instructional practices, assessment, and use of data on student learning; support teachers with ongoing, actionable feedback and needs‑based professional development; hold all staff accountable for rigorous performance goals for all students.
School Cultural and Equity Leadership: Articulate, model, and reinforce a clear vision and values of the school’s culture; involve students, families, and staff in creating an inclusive climate.
Human Resource Leadership: Establish and manage processes ensuring a knowledgeable, high‑quality, high‑performing staff; participate in job fairs, screen applications, and interview candidates for certified and classified positions.
Managerial Leadership: Establish systems to improve student learning and holistic development; manage interactions and relationships with parents, students, and staff; ensure a supportive environment that fosters safety, respect, and well‑being; supervise campus during school hours; supervise student discipline.
External Leadership: Design and utilize structures and processes that engage families and the community; develop relationships to lean on district and community resources for the benefit of students and families.
