description of job

this position purchases commodities and services needed by the canteen services within the division of correctional industries, in accordance with the state procurement code and rules, state fiscal rules, code of ethics and other regulations of the state and the department. Utilize awards from competitive procurements, state price agreements and procedures established by the state purchasing office/dpa.

job duties
  • review newly received requisitions and decide upon a procurement method by evaluating information and specifications received from the requester in order to procure or route to the cdoc purchasing office for processing as applicable;
  • research and/or request additional information as needed and appropriate. Determine the validity of request for standardized products or ‘no substitutions’;
  • evaluate options for the most effective process to proceed, including consideration of existing price agreements, past solicitations, interpreting procurement rules, applying industry standards, and factoring the time requirement, in order to procure in a manner that is most beneficial to the state;
  • ensure all work completed is in compliance with applicable regulations, policy, codes and standards, maintaining accurate and timely documentation and record keeping for all assigned areas;
  • maintain safety and security of facility and work sites through clear, accurate, and respectful communication;
  • provide support to canteen staff, ensuring the delivery of designated goods and services;
  • maintain the product selection, and price updates of merchandise available through canteen services in the canteen’s internal inventory management system;
  • place discretionary orders adding value by using professional judgment and knowledge. Clarify terms and descriptions as may be appropriate in order to obtain/verify quotations with the vendor;
  • track purchase orders, price agreements and contracts to ensure compliance with the terms including pricing, products, expiration dates, etc. While ensuring timely renewal or solicitation if necessary;
  • other duties, as assigned.
minimum requirements

six (6) years of full-time professional experience in purchasing, accounting, and budgeting.

a combination of education from an accredited institution in business management, accounting, finance or closely related field and/or relevant experience as defined above equal to six (6) years. You must submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts with your name, college name, degree and date conferred in order to receive credit.
