The Role

We are creating a pivotal new role for a Commercial Bid Manager who will directly shape ONYX Insight’s commercial success. Acting as the crucial bridge between Sales, Engineering, Product, and our customers, you will take ownership of the global bid process and transform technical and commercial complexity into winning business outcomes. This high-visibility role offers strategic influence and the opportunity to elevate how ONYX competes in a rapidly evolving renewable energy market.

This high-visibility, individual‑contributor position sits at the heart of ONYX Insight’s commercial engine. You will serve as the essential link between Sales, Engineering, and the Customer—translating complex needs into market‑leading proposals that directly influence revenue, win rates, and competitive positioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Global Bid Process: Own the complete lifecycle of bids and proposals—from opportunity qualification through development, review, submission, and handover.
  • Architect High‑Value Proposals: Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, and Product teams to craft tailored, compelling business cases that clearly articulate ONYX’s value.
  • Commercial Strategy & RFP Leadership: Manage all aspects of RFPs and commercial responses with clarity, competitiveness, and strategic insight.
  • Terms, Compliance & Risk Oversight: Review RFPs, terms and conditions, and customer documentation to ensure proposals are compliant, commercially sound, and aligned with internal governance.
  • Data Integrity & Pricing Accuracy: Maintain rigorous standards for pricing, technical inputs, and internal data quality to support reliable forecasting and commercial execution.
  • Cross‑Functional Coordination: Consolidate inputs across Sales, Product, Legal, Finance, and Operations to produce high‑quality, cohesive submissions.
  • Process & Template Management: Develop and standardize bid templates, pricing models, and supporting collateral.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support bid/no‑bid decisions, capture lessons learned, and drive enhancements to bid processes and performance.
  • Performance Reporting: Track and analyze bid outcomes, providing insights on win rates, process improvements, and commercial learnings.
  • Salesforce Administration & Opportunity Governance: Own the accuracy, structure, and governance of data within Salesforce, ensuring opportunities, pricing, approvals are consistently maintained to support pipeline visibility, reporting, and decision‑making.
Experience & Background
  • Bid Management

    Experience:

    Minimum 5 years managing bids, tenders, or complex commercial proposals in a B2B environment.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong grounding in pricing strategy, commercial modelling, and the development of high‑stakes proposals.
  • Execution Excellence: Proven ability to autonomously manage multiple deadlines and deliver with precision in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Communication &

    Collaboration:

    Exceptional ability to synthesize information, communicate clearly, and influence stakeholders across technical and commercial functions.
  • Contractual & Financial Insight: Solid understanding of commercial contracts and the ability to assess basic legal and financial risks.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills for data modelling and analysis; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy, strong process discipline, and commitment to data integrity.
  • Salesforce & CRM Proficiency: Hands‑on experience using Salesforce to manage bid pipelines, opportunity data, approvals, and reporting; confident maintaining data accuracy and supporting pipeline visibility and commercial decision‑making.
Desirable
  • Experience improving or standardising bid processes, tools, and templates.
  • Exposure to SaaS, engineering, technology, or renewable energy (wind preferred).
  • APMP or equivalent bid management qualification.
  • STEM or commercial/legal/business degree.
  • Experience interpreting technical specifications and T&Cs.
