SUMMARY
Under basic supervision, performs routine office clerical and administrative support functions for staff and provides customer services for students and the general public. This goal of the position is to relieve the Board of paperwork and impediment and to execute expeditiously the instructions of the Board so that the Board may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and policy determination.
Also, to assist and relieve the Superintendent of paperwork and impediment so that he may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administration.

- Effectively communicate while providing customer service, information, and assistance to students and visitors; greet visitors and answer phone calls; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Welcome visitors and arrange for their comfort, and screen unexpected callers in accordance with pre-determined policy.
- Provide a variety of clerical and office assistant duties; make and distribute copies; process mail, documents, correspondence, invoices, and other materials; schedule meetings and rooms. This includes typing letters, memos, reports, notices, etc. for the superintendent as well as maintaining his/her calendar.
- Update and maintain a variety of electronic and paper files, records, reports and documents; receive records and requests, verify information, and enter data into computer systems.
- Cross-train in a variety of MPS functions, and assist staff as directed.
- Support the relationship between the Bennett School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff; maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information; follow compliance rules governing child abuse; perform related duties as required or assigned.
- Publish all legal notices concerning district business including but not limited to working with the superintendent on District Accountability Committee meeting notices and reports, receiving and delivering interoffice written communications, and keeping the superintendent informed of pertinent division developments and events; and seek his/her counsel or decision as necessary.
- Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the superintendent.
- Acts as secretary to the Board of Education
- Give public notice and attend all meetings of the Board.
- Keep full and accurate minutes of all meetings of the Board and send a copy of such minutes to each member of the Board at least one week prior to the next regular meeting of the Board.
- Assist in the preparation of agendas setting forth all known items of business to be considered at Board meetings and deliver agendas to Board members at least one week prior to meetings.
- School Board Election Official.
- Keep Board policies up-to-date and type all curricula on computer.
- Perform such other tasks for the Board as may from time to time be assigned.
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of clerical and computer experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge of:- BSD policies and procedures.
