Job Overview
Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) located at the foot of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking a full‑time Mechanical/HVAC Supervisor. The position supports campus mechanical and utility systems, including boilers, chillers, emergency generators, plumbing, and building automation. The successful candidate will provide direct leadership to a work unit, support minor construction and renovation projects, and collaborate with other facilities work units to maintain a safe, functional learning environment.

The position is full‑time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (hours may vary). Travel between all PPSC campuses is required.

- Supervise and direct the mechanical/HVAC work unit.
- Assign tasks, prioritize work orders, and schedule service requests.
- Establish procedures and ensure compliance with safety, maintenance, and operational standards.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
- Evaluate staff performance in accordance with State Classified Personnel Rules.
- Manage unit resources including equipment, space, budget, and procurement.
- Train and develop staff in mechanical, HVAC, and building automation tasks.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, maintain and repair gas, steam, HVAC, refrigeration and plumbing systems.
- Install, repair, calibrate and adjust HVAC and building automation systems.
- Maintain valves, pumps, pipes, compressors, condensers, motors, fans, gauges and control panels.
- Fabricate and install ductwork and sheet metal components.
- Bend, cut, thread, join and connect piping.
- Test and adjust gauges and controls for efficient operation.
- Assemble structural and functional components using screwing, bolting, riveting, welding and brazing techniques.
- Provide mechanical and HVAC support for minor construction and renovation projects.
- Assist with related initiatives within the work unit’s scope.
- Solicit vendor quotations and coordinate with procurement to initiate purchase orders.
- Schedule contractor work and perform quality assurance inspections.
- Assist other facilities work units with service requests.
- Participate in seasonal snow and ice removal operations as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

• Four (4) years of experience in HVAC and plumbing, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Possession of a Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification.

• Completion of a formalized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning apprenticeship program or higher level, non‑correspondence coursework in the same field from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Transcripts must be submitted with the application (age information must be redacted).
Conditions of Employment• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver’s license and be able to operate company vehicles.
• Must pass a pre‑employment background check, including a motor vehicle report (MVR). Felony convictions or moral turpitude may disqualify. Candidates must provide disposition of any pending charges.

exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and speaking are essential.
