- Minimum 2 years High-Risk L&D experience
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP
- L&D Beds: 22
- OR Suites for C-Sections: 2
- Triage Beds: 7
- Postpartum Beds: 34
- Birth Volume:
- 8–12 per day
- ~250 per month
- ~2,900 per year
Patient Population / Common Diagnoses
- Labor & delivery
- Cesarean sections
- Pre-eclampsia
- IDM
- Variety of antepartum complications
- Ratios: Follow AWHONN guidelines as much as possible
- Charge Nurse: Does not take an assignment
- Nurse Aides / Surgical Techs: Surgical techs available
- Floating: Required to float to Postpartum
- Drip Titration Required: Yes
- Common Drips: Oxytocin, Magnesium Sulfate
- EFM System: GE Corometrics
- Fetal Monitoring: RNs read their own strips
- RT Equipment on L&D: None
- OB: Available
- NICU Level: Level III
- Neonatologist: Not in-house 24/7
- APPs: In-house 24/7
- Anesthesia: In-house 24/7
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling; travelers expected to fill needs within reason
- Weekends: Required
- Holidays: Required
- Call Requirement: 18 hours per 6 weeks
- Orientation:
- Unit-specific: 1 shift
- Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, even if first-day modules are remote
- Radius Rule: 60 miles miles
- Driver’s License: Must be submitted
- Scrubs: Hospital-provided
