We are seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide occupational health services on an intermittent basis
, covering for staff absences in our Occupational Health Clinic. This role focuses on supporting the wellness, safety, and medical needs of city employees
, with duties spanning from injury triage to physical exams and regulatory testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary, urgent, and occupational health care to adult employees, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
- Conduct health evaluations, post-offer/pre-placement physical exams, and CDL medical certifications
- Perform in-person and telephone triage of injured employees, determining appropriate care and facilitating referrals as needed
- Collaborate closely with the City’s Physical Therapy, Workers’ Compensation team, and other relevant internal departments
- Conduct OSHA-compliant evaluations and testing, including:
- Hearing conservation assessments (CAOHC standards)
- Pulmonary clearance and respirator fit testing
- Support for asbestos monitoring protocols
- Prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Assist in developing or reviewing occupational health policies and procedures alongside safety engineers, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene personnel
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing or Physician Assistant program
- Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado
- Board Certification from AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA (as applicable)
- State and Federal DEA certification to prescribe Schedule II–V controlled substances
- Registered with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME)
- Current BLS certification
- Relevant and progressively responsible experience in urgent care, emergency care, or occupational health, specifically treating adult patients
- Experience handling occupational injuries is highly valued
