Compensation

Base pay range: $75.00/hr - $80.00/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).

The Nurse Practitioner utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus in a correctional environment. The Physician’s Assistant works with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers in a correctional environment to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician. The position is located at El Paso County Jail in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

• Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program.
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment.
• Experience in correctional desired but not required.
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioners in the healthcare unit.
