Position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital with the Directorate of Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing at Fort Carson, Colorado.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. The job is open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.

Responsibilities- Perform a comprehensive behavioral health nursing assessment.
- Utilize appropriate interview skills to identify existing and potential problems and formulate a nursing plan of care.
- Educate patients and family members regarding the disease process.
- Communicate progress and/or changes to the patient, family and members of the health care team.
- Make interdisciplinary referrals.
- Administer many psychotropic and complex medications via the oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, respiratory, intravenous routes.
- Develop and initiate an innovative teaching program for patients requiring special approaches.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements for Nurse (Clinical/Psychiatric):
- Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. Attach a copy of transcripts.
- Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
- Foreign degree:
If applicable, official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required. - Exemption:
Current federal employee in the 0610 occupational series continuously employed since 09/27/2017 is exempt from the basic requirements provided documentation is submitted.
Additional Requirements:
- Education/
Experience:
A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to GS‑9 grade level or above) which includes providing nursing care to behavioral health patients, providing patient or staff education, and administering medications. - OR
Education:
A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. - Exemption:
Current federal employee in the 0610 occupational series continuously employed since 09/27/2017 is exempt from the qualification requirements provided documentation is submitted. - Doctoral equivalency:
Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education from a professional nursing program.
