Maintenance Supervisor

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks.
  • Execute comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all production equipment.
  • Leads collaboration with vendors and contractors to drive plant efficiency improvement projects.
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completely safe, effective, and on time.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and implement best practices in maintenance procedures.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and refrigeration maintenance as required.
  • Assist team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
  • Responsible for performing all PM (preventable maintenance) duties for all equipment (Ovens, Kettles, Mixers, Conveyor belts, Smokers, washing machines, Formers, Vacuum pumps, Packaging machines, HVAC system, refrigeration system, and all future equipment).
  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
  • Maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and troubleshoot and repair production machines.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes that occur on the production line.
  • Monitor packaging line efficiency.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods (SQF) that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Determine if new maintenance equipment, methods, or tools are needed.
  • Learn and master set-up, operation, adjustments, and best operating parameters of production equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide necessary training to machine operators to improve asset reliability.
  • Ensure that spare parts, components, and tools needed for maintenance are always available by ordering, forecasting, and monitoring material inventories.

    Direct corrections (corrective action) of any maintenance or manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Quality Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Diagnose, repair, and program PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and motor controls to support continuous RTE production, packaging, and sanitation operations while minimizing downtime and product risk.
  • Perform electrical PMs and safety inspections on high-voltage and low-voltage systems (12V–480V), including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc-flash compliance, and verification of interlocks, guards, and emergency stops on food processing and packaging equipment.
  • Ensure that all equipment and production lines are properly set up, tested, and operational prior to starting every shift.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Document maintenance activities, maintenance requests, repairs, inspections, and PM’s (Preventive Maintenance).
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. 3-5 years equivalent experience and training.
  • Food or beverage manufacturing background, FDA, USDA, GMP, SQF guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronics and experience in control systems and instrumentation.
  • Problem resolution skills and proficient interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge/Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement Processes and Tools.
  • Familiar with VFDs and PLC programming (Allen Bradley).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in a cold or warm processing environment.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, or holidays based on production needs.
