Overview
The Director of Purchasing is responsible for overseeing all purchasing operations within the organization, ensuring departmental efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards. This leadership role focuses on optimizing labor and material expenditures, streamlining procurement processes, and developing standard operating procedures that support company goals. The Director identifies opportunities for cost savings, negotiates supplier contracts, and ensures a reliable supply chain for ongoing construction projects.
In collaboration with other department heads, this role ensures alignment between purchasing strategy and overall business objectives.
As a senior leader, the Director fosters a culture of continuous improvement, growth, and accountability across the purchasing team. This includes recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel, driving performance through metrics and reporting, and championing a safe and positive work environment. The Director represents the company with vendors, customers, and community partners, reinforcing the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
Benefits and compensationBenefits are typical health, dental, and vision. 401K match up to 3%. 3 weeks PTO to start. Starting salary between $145,000 and $180,000, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage all purchasing functions, including budget development, cost control, and vendor negotiations.
- Drive process improvements and cost reduction initiatives for materials, labor, and production design.
- Hire, train, and develop purchasing staff, conducting performance evaluations and supporting career growth.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal SOPs, fostering a productive and compliant work environment.
- Collaborate with construction and operations leadership to resolve supply chain issues and ensure timely project delivery.
