Position Summary

Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 9–12 on a beautiful 1,100–acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics and the outdoors.

The Computer Science & Technology Integration Specialist supports this mission by teaching engaging and forward‑thinking computer science courses while partnering with faculty and the Technology Department to thoughtfully integrate technology into daily teaching and learning. This position blends classroom instruction, instructional coaching, and hands‑on technical support to ensure students and faculty have the skills, tools and confidence to use technology creatively, ethically, and effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Technology Department and Academic Programs Team (APT) to identify the essential growth of the school in the areas of technology integration and instructional innovation. Create and lead the technology integration plan for all instructional staff.
  • Teach two computer science courses each year, including:
  • An introductory course focused on foundational computing concepts, simple coding, and exposure to multiple languages and platforms.
  • An advanced course focused on higher‑level programming, software design, problem solving, and emerging technologies such as AI, quantum computing, data science, cybersecurity, or application development.
  • Design and deliver engaging, project‑based, student‑centered lessons that emphasize creativity, computational thinking, and real‑world application.
  • Develop and refine curriculum that reflects current best practices in computer science education and aligns with the School’s mission and values.
  • Serve as a resource and coach for faculty to integrate technology meaningfully into their classrooms.
  • Lead and/or support professional development sessions related to instructional technology, digital tools, and responsible technology use.
  • Assist with device setup, troubleshooting, AV support, and instructional software tools.
  • Help evaluate, pilot, and implement new educational technologies and digital resources.
  • Promote best practices in digital citizenship, data privacy, and ethical technology use.
  • Track and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently and produce quality results on schedule.
  • Regular, reliable in‑person attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, web technologies, or similar).
  • Understanding of introductory and advanced computer science concepts including variables, conditionals, loops, functions, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning environments.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both students and adults.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace, learning management systems, and classroom AV systems.
  • Comfort troubleshooting hardware, software, and instructional technology tools.
  • Ability to work with individuals with a range of technological expertise in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the core values and culture of the school.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive with users in the midst of a technology crisis.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, self‑motivated, and collaborative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or related field required.
  • Teaching experience or experience mentoring students in technology‑related fields preferred.
  • Experience in instructional technology integration or school‑based IT support preferred. Independent school experience a plus.
  • Possess or ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
  • Environment:
    Classroom and office setting working with high school students and faculty.
  • Physical Demands:
    Able to sit, stand, and lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods; occasional evening and/or weekend obligations.
  • Working Relationships:
    Students, parents, faculty, staff, and all other FVS employees.
Salary

$65,000 - $70,000 - depending on experience and education
