Job Summary
The Lead Medical Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting the clinical manager in leadership duties to include interviewing, hiring and training new staff. They will also be a crucial part of ensuring that clinic at all locations runs smoothly and patients are cared for in an efficient manor. The lead medical assistant should know how to perform every clinical role, in order to provide coverage for staff when on leave.
They will also be responsible for ensuring that the clinic has sufficient stock and stock is checked for expiration dates on a monthly basis. All other responsibilities can be found under requirements and are subject to change to meet the needs of the clinic.
- The Lead Medical Assistant assists the clinical manager with leadership duties including interviewing, hiring and training new staff.
- Ensure the clinic runs smoothly at all locations and patients are cared for efficiently.
- Know how to perform every clinical role to provide coverage for staff when on leave.
- Ensure the clinic has sufficient stock and that stock is checked for expiration dates monthly.
- Oversee medical assistants daily and weekly responsibilities and check offs; ensure procedure rooms and exam rooms remain stocked.
- Participate in interviews for staff and externs; provide leadership with a positive attitude.
- Assist in completing extern staff evaluations and help educate new staff.
- Maintain and enforce company policies; communicate with front desk when physicians are running behind in clinic.
- Attend staff meetings; ensure crash cart and AED are up to date and functioning; conduct weekly checks of O2 tanks.
- Assist with patient complaints, concerns and emergencies; participate in instructing staff at monthly safety meetings.
- Possess at least 1-2 years of relevant work experience providing patient care.
- Be a self-starter and an outstanding team player.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
- Have exceptional time management and communication skills.
- Attention to detail; must possess leadership qualities and be able to lead a team daily to ensure clinic runs smoothly.
- Ensure instruments are working properly and that there is enough on hand.
- Monthly checks on medications and supplies used in clinic to ensure they are removed and replaced when expired.
- Weekly OSHA walk-through.
- Weekly meetings with ENT clinical manager.
- Perform monthly autoclave testing.
- Train and educate new staff.
This position will be performed on site in a medical office setting. Travel between locations will be required.
