TECH - PHARMACY

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Prepares and dispenses prescribed medication under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, in accordance with hospital and outside regulatory agency standards and regulations. Maintains pharmacy area in a clean, neat and orderly condition.

• Position requires walking, standing sitting for prolonged periods of time.
• Occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds and carries small objects from waist to chest.
• Must be able to type.
• Ability to distinguish telephone rings and to hear and speak clearly over the telephone.
• Regularly needs to bend, stoop and reach.
• Must be able to speak, read and write.
• Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

• Requires organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
• Skill in use and operation of a personal computer helpful.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a highly stressful situation.
• Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere at all times.
• Ability to operate pharmacy computer system, unit dose cart filling, perform repetitive tasks, and complete inventory.

EXPERIENCE/

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent and a diploma from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program required. Experience preferred.

Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. ues.
