Job Overview
SUMMARY
The Associate Clinical Manager is responsible for managing a unit/department by implementing and maintaining specific policies, procedures, and guidelines; leading team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge; ensuring compliance with quality and safety initiatives and practices; and partnering with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and families. The Associate Clinical Manager also provides leadership and management to unit/department team members.
Finally, the Associate Clinical Manager in periods when volumes are high and mandates, will serve as the charge therapist by preparing schedules and assigning team members to patients, overseeing the general flow of patient care and serving as a liaison to the resource therapists.

Below is a list of essential functions for the Associate Clinical Manager position:
- Manages the implementation and maintenance of unit/department specific policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring consistency with evidence-based practice and organizational policies, standards, and procedures.
- Leads unit/department team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and promoting the application of the Evidence-Based, Professional Practice Model and Professional Standards in daily work.
- Interprets and explains regulatory standards and hospital policies, procedures, and rules to team members and ensures compliance with applicable quality and safety initiatives and practices.
- Ensures staffing resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources to meet both patient and unit needs.
- Exercises sensitivity to current and emerging operational needs of the department through flexibility with working hours and attention to desired outcomes.
- Partners with a multidisciplinary team in meeting the clinical needs of patients and families.
- Rounds with patients, families and team members to promote a quality patient family.
- Resolves operational and patient/family issues, making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems.
- Assists team members in achieving unit outcomes, performance and professional development standards; identifies opportunities for continual improvement.
- Champions clinical practice and professional growth by working with department educator to meet the educational needs of the unit/department and by monitoring and evaluating team member competencies. Develops, coaches, and evaluates team members.
- Mentors team members in creating/evaluating projects focused on improving clinical practice in line with unit initiatives and organizational goals.
- Provides feedback to Clinical Manager/Director on decisions involving hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required.
- Is sensitive to expenditures for unit/department and participates in the development of budget recommendations.
- Position requires regular and predictable attendance. Employee is held accountable for all duties of this job.
- Collaborates with Director, clinical manager, and HR in the hiring, promotion, disciplinary and termination process.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: Three (3) years' experience in a Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care setting.
- Equivalency: Two (2) years' experience in a pediatric/neonatal critical care setting with two (2) years respiratory care supervision.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), required.
- Neonatal-Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist certification (RRT-NPS) by NBRC, required within one (1) year of hire.
