Position: Boards and Commissions Program Administrator I

Boards and Commissions Program Administrator

The Boards and Commissions Program Administrator is responsible for the administration and oversight of all City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions. This position will oversee the recruitment, interviews, appointments, and training of Board Members. In addition, you will oversee legislative review, annual reporting, and record management for all City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions. Additionally, you will be responsible for aspect of the City Council agenda process, including file creation, content review, and process improvements.

This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved.

As a Boards and Commissions Program Administrator, you will:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact related to administration and oversight of City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions
  • Facilitate the recruitment, interviews, and onboarding of all new Board Members when vacancies occur or on an as needed basis
  • Ensure volunteer engagement through annual appreciation event and distribution of Board Member materials and resources
  • Develop recruitment strategies to attract a talented applicant pool for vacant positions
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to include Council members, Legislative Services Staff, Department Heads, City Attorney's Office, staff liaisons, and regional partners
  • Create and provide training related to ethics, Board member roles, responsibilities, and leadership to all new and existing Board Members on an ongoing basis
  • Review the purpose and intent of each Board's legislation to ensure alignment with City Council and their Strategic Plan on an annual basis
  • Review and suggest bylaw amendments for all City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions and draft associated legislation
  • Coordinate and confirm completion of Annual Reports and Work Plans for all City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions
  • Develop and oversee the records management for all City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions
  • Serve as staff liaison to City Council Appointed Boards and Commissions as needed and administer creation of agendas, meeting minutes, and meeting materials. Current liaison assignments include Lodging and Auto Rental Tax Citizens' Advisory Committee and Law Enforcement Transparency and Advisory Commission
  • Support City Council agenda management process by reviewing content ensuring accuracy of agenda items, suggesting, and implementing process improvements

What you need to succeed in this role:

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Public-sector and/or non-profit boards
  • Proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar

Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, executive staff, and community partners
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Maintain confidentiality and use good personal judgment and discretion
  • Engage with members of the public and provide executive-level customer service
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study

  • One years of full-time, professional experience in a related field
