Auria is looking to hire an Electrical Engineer Intern. This role is ONSITE in Colorado Springs, CO
Summer Internship:
June 1, 2026 - August 28, 2026, end date flexible based on academic obligations
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support the modeling of space-based sensor behavior within a digital twin simulation environment. The intern will contribute to the development of simplified models of infrared sensing systems used for missile detection and tracking. These models will generate simulated sensor observations used to test command-and-control workflows and decision-support capabilities.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:- Develop simplified models of space-based infrared sensor behavior
- Implement algorithms that determine when a missile launch would be detectable by a space-based sensor
- Support the development of sensor field-of-view and detection geometry models
- Contribute to the development of detection thresholds, noise models, and signal characterization
- Work with the software team to integrate sensor outputs into the simulation data pipeline
- Support testing and validation of sensor detection models within operational scenarios
- Assist in documenting sensor modeling assumptions and performance characteristics

Collaborative contributor motivated by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect and serve both the nation and the world. - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Coursework in signal processing, sensors, or electromagnetics
- Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, or a similar technical computing language
- Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with software and systems engineers
- Exposure to sensor systems, remote sensing, or signal detection concepts
- Familiarity with data analysis tools or numerical modeling
- Interest in space systems, missile warning systems, or defense applications
- Experience with simulation environments or modeling tools
- Coursework in probability, estimation, or tracking algorithms
The wage offered will be based on the selected candidate's college year. $22/hr.
- $33/hr.
