Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly experienced Aerospace Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) with advanced expertise in space environment modeling. The ideal candidate will contribute to cutting‑edge research and development in space weather prediction, ionospheric and thermospheric modeling, and related fields critical to national defense and space operations.
- Lead the development and enhancement of sophisticated space environment models.
- Conduct advanced data analysis and interpret complex datasets related to space weather and atmospheric phenomena.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate modeling results into broader research initiatives.
- Author technical reports and present findings to stakeholders, including government agencies and scientific communities.
- Contribute to proposal writing and project planning for new research opportunities.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the overall scientific direction of the team.

Risk Management:
Assess new technologies and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- BS 10-12, MS 8-10, PhD 5-7
- Must possess and have the ability to maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and running advanced computer models for space environment applications.
- Proficiency in Matlab or Python programming languages.
- Strong background in data analysis and statistical modeling methods.
- Experience with engineering analysis codes and techniques.
- Experience in writing technical plans and reports, and presenting results to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings and potential testing activities.
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in modeling the space environment post-Ph.D.
- Experience in the nuclear weapons complex (DoD or DOE).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (for Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
